Fantastic Fund Raising
Yet again we have had a great start to fundraising this school year. This kicked off with a quiz night in October (first time we have held one in the autumn) which raised over £500. November saw the annual Firework Display which we organise with Brookman’s Park Rotary. This raised just over £3500 for the PTA and a matched amount for local charities – this was down on last year (which had been our best ever), but as it came during half term and was held on the same night as the Hatfield House display I think it is still a great figure. The Christmas Fayre followed soon after and raised an amazing £2500, up on 2012.
What We Have Brought for School
As most of you – and certainly your children – know each class now has a dedicated iPad. I am also sure that when you have been into school for events and assemblies you will have noticed that the hall is looking spruce with new curtains and more comfortable seating. We have also purchased new reading scheme books and paid for the chicken run to be built.
- We have a number of events lined up for 2013, with more planned:
- Valentines Disco – 14th February (separate letter with details)
- Sponsored penalty shoot-out with Watford Football Club Trust (date tbc)
- Little Heath’s Got Talent – May date tbc
- Quiz night – early May (tbc)
- Mid-Summer’s Eve Fayre – Friday 21 June 6-9pm
- Watch the PTA page of the school website for details and additional events.
On-Going Fund Raising
Apart from specific events we have been aiming to find ways of raising funds steadily throughout the year. We have been doing this in a number of ways.
Hundred Club – This has been running for a year now but take-up since September has been disappointing with only 28 numbers sold. This makes for low prize money and limited fund raising. It’s not too late to join and there are 6 draws left this year. Each number will be just £6 – a bargain! Details and an application form are on the PTA page of the web site. The next draw will be 22nd February.
Easy Fund Raising – £230 has been raised through this with 33 people having signed up. If you haven’t yet done so it only takes a couple of minutes and while you are clicking to buy on-line from major retailers you can also be fund raising. Details of the scheme and the link to sign up are on the PTA page.
Bag 2 School – We did this last summer and raised £170, just by bringing in unwanted clothing and shoes. There will be 2 collections – 7th March and 8th July. Separate letters and bags will go out to each family – meanwhile start saving up all the clothes that your children have grown out of!
Thanks to everyone who continues to help and support events. If you have some spare time and want to be more involved e-mail the PTA at email@example.com or come along to a meeting – dates and times will be sent out by text.
