Rotary Shoebox Scheme
We are once again going to be supporting the Rotary Club with their shoebox scheme. As we did last year we will be sending every family a shoebox to fill with items for a child or family and then these boxes will be sent to a family in need in a country in Eastern Europe. There is some advice on the box of how you may fill them. The boxes are to be delivered to the families in time for Christmas so they will need to be returned to school by Wednesday 30th November. We had an excellent response to this project last year and I am sure that we can do the same this year. If you are unable to fill the box sent to you please return it to school. If you think you are able to fill more than one shoebox there will be spares available in the office. Martin Collins from Brookmans Park Rotary Club will be coming into school next week to take an assembly to explain to the children a little more about the scheme. Poppy Appeal Thank you to everyone who has purchased a poppy. If you have not done so already we will be selling poppies until Friday.
Once again our ‘Firework Display’ was a huge success and even though it was the end of half term we still had a large amount of people attend. I would like to thank everyone who helped to organise the event because without their support it would not happen. The money raised benefits both the school and many charities supported by the Rotary Club. We will inform you when we know how much money was made by the event.
Walk to School
As part of our on-going campaign to encourage more people to walk to school we are becoming involved in a new ‘Walk to School’ project which will encourage the children to walk to school at least once a week for the whole year. It is going to be launched next week and more details of what it is all about will be sent home in a letter on Monday.
Due to personal commitments Mr Berridge will be working fewer hours in school. The balance of hours will be covered by Mr Mills for the foreseeable future. Yours sincerely, K A Custis
