PTA Quiz Night

Tickets are now on sale for the quiz night.  They are £5 per person, with teams of 8-10 people.  If you cannot get enough people for a team don’t worry we can help to make up the numbers. Saturday 18th May 2013 7.00pm for 7.30pm Start As in previous years the ticket price does not include food but please feel   free to bring your own, or order in a take-away! Soft drinks will be available with an honesty box.  If you want wine or beer please bring it along. In lieu of a licensed bar the PTA would appreciate a donation for corkage. Space is limited so book soon by completing the slip below and putting it in the PTA box in school reception (cheques payable to LHS PTA). There will be a raffle on the night – donations of prizes for it would be very welcome!

PTA Newsletter January 2013

Fantastic Fund Raising Yet again we have had a great start to fundraising this school year. This kicked off with a quiz night in October (first time we have held one in the autumn) which raised over £500. November saw the annual Firework Display which we organise with Brookman’s Park Rotary. This raised just over £3500 for the PTA and a matched amount for local charities – this was down on last year (which had been our best ever), but as it came during half term and was held on the same night as the Hatfield House display I think it is still a great figure. The Christmas Fayre followed soon after and raised an amazing £2500, up on 2012. Newsletter 7th November

Rotary Shoebox Scheme We are once again going to be supporting the Rotary Club with their shoebox scheme. As we did last year we will be sending every family a shoebox to fill with items for a child or family and then these boxes will be sent to a family in need in a country in Eastern Europe. There is some advice on the box of how you may fill them. The boxes are to be delivered to the families in time for Christmas so they will need to be returned to school by Wednesday 30th November. We had an excellent response to this project last year and I am sure that we can do the same this year. If you are unable to fill the box sent to you please return it to school. Newsletter 18th September

Chickengate! Since we announced that we were going to have to relocate the chickens there has been a huge outcry from parents who are very upset as they think we are being forced to get rid of them. This is not how it is. It is true that 2 parents complained to the authorities about how we were keeping the chickens and those authorities contacted me to discuss the situation and offer guidance on how to move forward so that the chickens were well looked after and the children were safe as well – they did not tell me that we had to get rid of them. As Mr Berridge has been in charge of looking after the chickens I discussed the situation with him and he felt that it would be best all round if we gave the chickens to someone else to look after.
