Newsletter 9th February

Mrs Costi Mrs Costi, who has been on maternity leave, will be returning to her teaching position in Year 3 on February 26th. Sadly, this means that Ms. Pavlova will be leaving us. Her last day is on February 23rd. I am sure that you will join me in thanking Ms Pavlova for everything she has done for the school and in wishing her well for the future. School Traffic Most parents are very good and do not park their cars in front of the school so that children can enter and exit the premises safely. However, in recent times, there have been an increasing number of parents driving up to the school entrance to drop their children off and then turning their cars round to drive away. New Policies Policies for the school are reviewed at Governors meetings on a regular cycle and the updated versions are then put on the website. To try and allow parents more opportunities to be involved with the policies, it was decided that we should now give parents an opportunity to review the policies before they are officially accepted. To allow this to happen we have now put newly updated policies into a pending section which can be found under the policies section of the website. Parents will then be sent a text to allow them to know when the policies have been uploaded and will be given a few weeks to send any comments to the Chair of Governors at chairgovernor@littleheath.herts.sch.uk. Violin Tuition A violin teacher is interested in teaching violin lessons to pupils in Little Heath if there are enough children interested. If you would like your child to…

School Attendance Following a recent visit from our attendance officer, she has asked me to remind you all of the importance of your child attending school regularly – they also need to arrive at school on time to ensure they can maximise their opportunities for learning and develop good working habits for later life. Our attendance percentage for last year was 95.5%. Although this is satisfactory it falls just under the government target of 96%. I know that we are lucky to have conscientious parents who only keep their children away from school if they are unwell but just to ensure that you are aware of your child’s attendance percentage we will now be sending home letters at the end of every term if your child’s attendance falls between 90- 95%. If your child’s attendance falls under 90% and there is no clear reason for why this has happened e.g….
